Willy

Willy is an approximately 20 year old gray pony – gelded 3/21/2022

He will not allow us to catch him, is very wary and jumpy. He pins his ears and keeps his distance.

Update May 2022

Willie is coming around. He is healthier and calmer.

We cobbled together some donated corral panels and gates to set up a pen. He is fairly easy to bribe into it with food/treats and will now let us put a halter on (after a little negotiating).

The routine is: go into the pen, put on the halter, get his feed, eat in peace inside the corral, remove the halter, let back out. He has to wear his halter to get his food. 🙂

He enjoys not being chased off his feed by the mares, probably for the first time since coming to live with them. The girls do come to the corral and give him the stink-eye while he peacefully eats – happily ignoring them.

Willy is currently being fostered by our friends at Wild Hearts Equine Therapy where he is learning that humans of all types can be gentle and kind.
