Choctaw has returned to Whisper Ranch!

A little over 10 years ago, Choctaw went to be a companion to a lonely, only horse named Cody. Cody had been in a herd of three for many years, but his other two herd mates died and he was left alone.

Cody has significant arthritis in his joints and in his grief he just stood and mourned. Not moving was making his joints even worse. Anyone with arthritis knows that you NEED to move even if it hurts, or eventually you will not be able to move at all.

Choctaw gave him a reason to move…even if it was just to push Choctaw around! But they became best buddies.

Now things have changed.

Choctaw has developed insulin resistance and blood tests reveal he has Cushings.

He was being cared for (along with Cody) by a wonderful woman who takes great care of the horses, who has worked hard to manage his diet to keep him out of trouble, but she has had some major life changes that now make it impossible for her to monitor and manage him – as intensely and timely as is needed with a Cushings horse.

So Choctaw has come to Whisper Ranch where he will be managed and monitored very closely.
