How To Help

Donations can come in the form of feed, hay, services, equine products, saleable items, and cash donations that help to cover the cost of routine care as well as emergency medical care.

Little things add up! Big things add up faster!!

If you wish to donate money for a specific purpose, just let us know how to designate the funds.

If you wish to help support a specific animal for a specific purpose, let us know and it will go directly to the care of that animal.

Approximate Monthly Cost per Horse (donkeys are about 1/3 the amount)

  • Hay – $100
  • Feed – $75
  • Minerals/Salt – $25
  • Supplements – $40
  • Veterinarian – $50
  • Farrier – $0 (Our farrier is one of us and does not charge for Whisper Ranch Residents)

Approximate total per month: $291

The above information is a monthly average of prices of services and/or goods. Prices of services or goods may vary depending on location and seem to always be rising! Cost for an individual horse can be higher, sometimes much higher, depending upon individual needs.

Constant and ongoing needs

HAY

Hay is always needed and is the second highest monthly expense. If you have quality, dust-free horse hay to donate, let us know. We will work with you to get it where it is needed.

We cannot use straight Bermuda hay, but a mix with some Bermuda in it is fine!

FEED

The types of feed we use varies based on the specific needs of each horse. The most used feeds overall are:

Seminole Wellness Senior Seminole Wellness Equi-Safe Forage

Alfalfa/Timothy Hay Pellets Copra

Secondary feed if Seminole is not available

Triple Crown Naturals   Triple Crown Safe Starch Forage

One way to help with feed is to collect and send us coupons for any of these feeds.

DENTAL

Proper, Natural Balance Equine Dental care is essential for domestic horses. Most of our rescues come to us with dental issues that require specialized care. It is very difficult to find an Equine Dentist who understands how to do Natural Balance Dentistry and its pricey. But such dentists are worth the price!!

Dental care averages $125 per horse per visit for routine visits. They should be seen by the dentist once a year, but often we have to delay due to a shortness of funds.

VETERINARY CARE

Some of us have a great deal of medical training, both holistic and allopathic. For minor or basic issues, we treat the animals ourselves with the support of our wonderful Veterinarian. That keeps costs way down.

For serious injury or illness, the costs can become astronomical very quickly!

SALE ITEMS

If you have items that we could resell at a yard sale or on eBay, let us know. It is difficult for us to set up and run a yard sale, but we will do it!!

Better yet, you could have a yard sale on behalf of the horses!! Items that are small enough to be shipped, we can sell on eBay or you can do that for us, too!

Either way, we will be grateful for any such donations.

We are grateful for any assistance, and remember, its all tax deductible!
