Well, its been a long time between news updates. Many things have changes and many have remaind the same, such is life! Cindy Sullivan had to return from Montana after only six months sur eto the collpasing economy. There was simply no opportunity (or money) to relocate the horses and donkeys, in fact there was just no time to get something set up and going for them. Back in Georgia, things were going badly for the team, support money dried up and they struggled to feed the equines. Cindy had been the primary support our of her pocket when in GA and simply could not grow any business fast enough in Montana to be able to send money to GA for them. That, plus emerging crises with famil in GA compelled her to return. Honesty, even though we feel bad that she had to abandond a lifelong dream, we're REALLY glad she's back!

GoodSearch is a program Whisper Ranch has participated in for a number of years. You can help by selecting GoodSearch as your search engine and making sure Whisper Ranch is selected as the charity you "GoodSearch" for...
every click, earns $ for the animals.
Now they have an additional program called GoodShop. It operates much the same way. You do your normal shopping with online retailers you would normally buy from, but do it through GoodShop - make sure you have Whisper Ranch selected as your charity and the retailers donate a percentage of your purchases to the Ranch. It costs you nothing extra!! Go here or on the GoodSearch logo below to get started...and THANK YOU!

We are pleased to announce that several of our equines have found foster families and three have been permanently adotped!  Bishop was adopted last year by a wonderful group of women who run a special organization called For The Love Of A Horse, this month they added the miniature horse, Cole and the miniature donkey, Gambit to their herd. Bishop, Cole and Gambit have been the stars of the community outreach program and these ladies intend to continue that mission with them. Congratulations and thank you, ladies!

Also, Cody and Hawkeye have found loving foster homes. Visit the "Success Stories" page to see them. Thank you to Shannon Robinson for fostering Cody and to Pat and Jen Marcellino for fostering Hawkeye!

Cindy Sullivan, who has been providing support for the animals during this transition, is moving to Montana. The plan is that she will take Reno and Danny with her in hopes that the climate there will relieve them of their respiratory issues.  If there is enough funding, she will also take the two donkeys, Nathaniel and Elmo.
Read about them on the Current Rescues page. That will take some of the burden off Jessica and the rest of the team who will remain here in Georgia to carry on with the Whisper Ranch mission and take care of the remaining rescues until there is a new location and sponsorships.

May 2010

Just 5 short months after moving the Ranch and restructuring, we are facing challenges. Our current location, one that has been held by a stable family for 10 years is now going to be sold. Economic stress keeps taking its toll! We might have a year more, we might not. In addition, due to the failing economy, donations have disappeared. But we are optomisitc that we can hold the line and find a better location. In the meantime, we are unable to ramp up our rescue efforts due to limited space and lack of funds.

April 2010
Ari has a foster home! Robin and Mark Fornwalt have gaciously opened their home and herd to Ari! Robin is an equine massage therapist and long time student of the horse and has the special skills Ari needs to continue in his recovery. Thank you Mark and Robin! Check out the

Whisper Ranch's founder, Shannon Smith, stepped down as CEO, and Jessica Edwards - daugher of long time Whisper Ranch partner, Cindy Sullivan - has taken over the position.
The previous location near Dahlonega, GA was lost due to the land owner's divorce, so we moved Whisper Ranch to Clayton, GA.  The transition took some time and was not easy, but we did it!
