February 28th, 2004 Jim

This is Jim one day after he arrived here.  His coat was thick and actually hid much of the severity of what malnutrition had done to his body.  He "body scored" at #2 with our vet.  Jim arrived at Whisper Ranch on February 28, 2004.

Jim was approximately 30 years old and a Tennessee Walking Horse.

April 16th, 2004  Jim at week 7

This is Jim on April 16th.  He'd been here for 7 weeks.  He made radical, amazing progress during that time.  He was such a sweetie!  He let me give him a nice iodine shampoo bath and even wash his face.  He was already shedding out a LOT of the old, unhealthy fur he had and his ribs were less and less visible every day.  His personality was beginning to BEAM through!  We were all in love with him.  He was so much fun to be around and work with daily.
July 7th, 2004 Week 18

This is Jim with Whisper Ranch volunteer, Dominique Dietz.  Jim could actually be ridden for a few minutes at a time at a walk in his last couple of months.  He was such a good boy and LOVED having the kids ride him!  He responded to the lightest pressure in just this halter and reins!  When Jim got here, we would have never guessed he'd make that kind of recovery and actually be able to be ridden lightly again.  Amazing horse with amazing heart!  We'll miss him as though we'd known him his whole life!!

August 18th, 2004

Jim died suddenly on the morning of the 18th.  Thank you, Jim, for sharing 6 months of your special life with us.  We'll miss you like we'd known you forever.  We're grateful to have had a chance to be a part of happiness for you!

Special Thanks to Debbie Hamilton for being Jim's sponsor during his time here.  We couldn't have done it without you, Debbie!!
