Help!  We Need Your Immediate Support!

The recent drought has caused the hay supply across the country to be very slim and poor quality, but to go for an outrageous premium price.  We are paying roughly $1800/mo on JUST hay right now.  Currently, our rescues are grossly under sponsored.  We are feeding Timothy to the horses in our Founder Field, especially Mia.  We are feeding fescue to everyone else.  I am getting calls almost DAILY to take in starvation cases.  We don't have the hay, feed, and shelter we need to take care of even a fraction of the horses that are in trouble right now.  We are seeking immediate assistance with hay and to raise the funds for a barn.  The barn is a serious need for rehabilitating starvation cases as they desperately need shelter from the elements.  They lose body heat very quickly and are immune compromised, so get sick easily.  Currently, starvation cases are forced to be in the rain and mud, compromising their rehabilitation.

How can you help?

Vet Bills:  We have a vet bill for Kellie for $150 and one for Ben for $300 that we need help covering.  Please contact Dr. Meghan Seabolt at 706-654-0728, to donate toward those bills directly or Shannon at either ssmith@whisperranch.org or 678-231-0867.  We also have a need for X-Rays for several of our rescues and soon, we will incur vet bills on Mia for the delivery of her foal.

Hay:    We need Horse Quality Timothy for our Founder Cases and for Mia the pregnant mare.  This hay costs $10/bale in the current market and we feed 2 bales/day.  We need Horse quality Fescue or Orchard Grass Hay for the rest of our rescues and program horses.    This hay ranges in price from $6/bale to $10/bale in the current market and we feed 4 bales/day.

Barn:  We desperately need $10,000 to at least get a roof over the heads of our most critical rescues.  We have gotten quotes from $10,000 for the roof structure of the barn (which we could at least put panel stalls in) up to $70,000 for a barn with roomy stalls and the modern technology we could use for rehabilitation.

Adoption:  Every horse that gets adopted makes room for us to help the next horse in need.  We are currently maxed out and cannot take any new rescues until some of our adoptable horses get new homes.

Sponsors:  Our sponsorships are coming up short of providing our monthly expenses with this dire hay situation.  We are in need of more sponsors to help us with our newest rescues and sponsors to help cover the difference between what our horses are sponsored at and what it is currently costing us because of the hay crisis.

If you can help with any of these needs, contact Shannon at ssmith@whisperranch.org.  This email address can also be used at www.paypal.com to make donations online.

bulletThank you to the McIntyre Family for the generous donation of funds to purchase a horse trailer!  We are getting so much use out of this trailer, from transporting rescues and community outreach visits to even moving hay and feed!  Thank you so much!

bulletHelp! We desperately need at least a 3/4 ton 4x4 truck!  We completely ruined our 1/2 ton truck using it like a 3/4 ton truck.

bulletThe Community Outreach Program needs sponsoring!  Whisper Ranch's Community Outreach Program would like to be able to reach out to the Community every time we have a chance and even proactively expand those opportunities to include more hospital and school visits.  In order to do that, we need more sponsorship to cover expenses.

Thank you to Debbie Hamilton, who faithfully contributes to this program monthly!  If you too can help with this need, contact Shannon at ssmith@whisperranch.org

We need Black Beauty paint and folks to paint fences!  We have rough sawn lumber as our fences and we've got to get this stuff painted, so it doesn't rot!
