Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation
Donations can come in the form of feed, hay, tack, veterinary serivces,
blankets, as well as cash donations that help to cover the cost of
medical needs,
horse transport, barn and fence maintenance and repair, horse and home
assessments, printing and postage, etc. Little things add up! Big
things add up faster!!
If you wish to donate money for a specific need, just let us know how
to designate the funds. We are grateful for any assistance, and
remember, its all tax dedictible!
Some of us make items that we
offer for sale specifically to benefit the Ranch. 100% of the sales go
to the animals.

Ranch!
Search the web with GoodSearch.com and each time you
do a search, GoodSearch will donate about a penny to our rescue!
Shop online at GoodShop.com and a percentage of each
purchase will be donated to our rescue! More than 600 top stores are
participating including Amazon, Target, Staples, Best Buy and more!
We desperately need a tractor!
Do you or someone you know have one to donate?
It would be a great tax
deduction for the donor! It doesn't have to be a new tractor, if
it is something that just needs a little work, our barn manager, AJ is
very good at mechanic work and can probably get it up and running.
One of our biggest and constant needs is hay.
On large round bale will feed 4 horses for 3-4 days.
One square bale will feed one horse for one day.
Rolls cost us $45 each
Squares cost us $4 each
We are grateful for any
hay donations...however, we prefer to use mixed grass hays and it must
be dust/mold free, especially for our horses with respiratory issues.
Fence Boards
As you might imagine, we
have an almost constant need for boars to repair fences. We use 2"x16'
pressure treated boards, but we can get by with 1"x16' as long as they
are pressure treated. The original fence was built with rough cut
2"x14' boards, but that's uncommon and would not be easy to find. If
you have any boards laying around that would fit the bill...let us know!
Feed
Beet Pulp- the feed we use the most
is
plain beet pulp sherds without added molasses. Any brand will do as
long as they are plain with no molasses added.
Seminole Wellness Equi-Safe
We always have horses
that come to us with laminitis issues. This forage feed is the best
we've found to feed them safely. Cost around $22
Complete Forage Feed for horses at risk from laminitis &
obesity
• Low-Starch, Low NSC
• Forage Blend
• Added Herbs
• 8% Protein, 3% Fat
• Added
Biotin & methionine for hoof health
• Rx for Laminits, Obesity & Insulin
Resistance
Seminole Senior
Feed - This is the
special, easy to digest feed we give
to our older horses. It
costs
@ $22 per bag. It is the best feed for a variety of aged horses and
their various conditions. Unfortunately, our local Seminole dealer went
out of business so we make due with Triple Crown Senior available
to us locally.
If you happen to live near a feed store that sells Seminole and
would like to donate some bags, we and the horses would be grateful.
Dentist
Proper, Natural Balance
Equine
Dental care is essential for domestic horses.
Most of our rescues coem to us with damaged teeth that require
specialized care. It is very difficult to find an Equine Dentist who
understands how to do Natual Balance Dentistry and pricey. But such
dentists are worth the price!!
Dental care averages $100 - $125 per horse per visit.
Veterinary
Care
Barn call - $60
(This only covers the vet coming to the barn, nothing else.)
Emergency barn call - $100 -$150
(Depending on day and time of day)
For serious injury or illness, the costs can become
astronomical very quickly!
Some of our current
rescues are unadoptable and are permanent residents. Sponsors are
vitally important to assure nutrition and health care needs are met for
them while they live out their days at Whisper Ranch.
Those that are adoptable
need sponsors while they await their forever home and our foster horses
need help too!
Go to the Current Rescues page to read each
animal's monthly need and choose which you would like to be a special
angel to as a sponsor!!
If you would like to make
a one time donation to a specific recue animal whether at the ranch or
in foster care, just be sure to let us know which animal and we will
designate your donation only to the care of that one.
Foster or Adopt
We are keenly aware that
the current
economic crisis is taking a toll on everyone. Disposable income is
becoming a thing of the past as families struggle just to get by.
Unfortunately, animals suffer too - horses in particular as they are
very expensive to care for compared to dogs and cats. This means that
more and more horses are coming into rescues all around the country
while at the same time the resources to care for them dwindles. We are
no different...there are more horses that need us than we can provide
for. Our network of foster homes are over loaded as well. If you or
someone you know can foster or adopt a horse (or goat or anything else
that comes in) please let us know.
From time to time we have projects that
need many more hands than we have. We are in the process of developing
our volunteer program, but if you would be willing to be on our
"on call" list for major project days
(for example: fence building/repair, barn and outbuilding repair,
brush/tree clearing, etc) send an email to:
In the meantime, SPREAD THE WORD about Whisper Ranch! Thank you!!
Sale Items
If you have
items that we could resell at a yard sale or on eBay, let us know. It is difficult for
staff to set up and run a yard sale, but we will do it!! Better yet,
you could have a yard sale on behalf of the horses!! Items that are
small enough to be shipped, we can sell on eBay or you can do that for
us, too! Either way, we will be grateful for any such donations.
Fundraising!
With
so many mouths
to feed, we are always in need
of fundraising ideas to keep enough cash flowing to provide feed and
medical care. However, fundraising takes an enourmous amount of time
and requires someone with talent for it. If you are willing to help by
doing a fundraiser on behalf of the Ranch. Let us know!
