Ben, 2 yo Mustang Pony

Ben was impounded by Hall County Animal Control.  He was starved and has multiple scars.  Ben's back right fetlock suffered a severe break at some point and he has developed a lot of mineralization around that joint to compensate.  He is, shockingly, traveling fine on that leg.  We are unsure of whether Ben will be able to be ridden with his leg like this, but we are hopeful.  The terrain at Whisper Ranch is very mountainous and he has not had a day where he isn't 100% sound.  Ben is still very nervous about people, but we're working on it.  He *wants* to trust; it is just going to take time and love.

If you are interested in adopting Ben, contact Shannon at ssmith@whisperranch.org or 678-231-0867.

Mia, 9 yo Paint Horse mare & Leila, her new daughter

Mia was put through some severe, bone shifting training while her young body was still developing and, now, the bones in one front hoof are irreparably malformed.  Mia was BRED in this condition, as many lame mares are, forcing her to carry an extra 150 lbs of baby on her already painful legs.  She will always have pain issues, but remains the sweetest mare we've ever met.  She needs a loving home somewhere flat!  She's a fantastic "pet" and a great companion.

Mia's original owner died of cancer and forgot to make arrangements for her animals before she succumbed to that horrible disease.

Mia serves as several reminders to all of us!

1.  DO NOT ride horses until they are finished growing!

2.  DO NOT breed lame mares....it is cruel!

3.  DO NOT forget your animals' futures in your wills.

If you are interested in adopting Mia OR Leila, contact Shannon at ssmith@whisperranch.org or 678-231-0867.

They do NOT need to go to the same home.  Leila will be ready to wean in late October.  Mia and Leila could even go together now and one of them can be returned upon weaning to wait for a home.

Pepper

16 year old Quarter Horse Mare

Pepper was a Founder case.  It caused rotation in the coffin bones of her two front feet and she was in pain before she came to us.  Through Therapeutic Barefoot Hoofcare and Nutritional Support, she is completely sound again and a happy, healthy girl!

Contact Shannon at ssmith@whisperranch.org or 678-231-0867, if you are interested in adopting Pepper.

Cheyenne

5 year old Spotted Saddle Horse

18hh Mare

Cheyenne is a BIG mare!  She was owned by someone who knew nothing about horse handling and allowed her to use her size to get her way.  She was taken in by a Whisper Ranch volunteer, when we rescued her pasture-mate.  Jennifer, the volunteer, is ready to place her so that she can foster two Whisper Ranch rescues for the Winter.

Cheyenne is not saddle broke.  She has fair ground manners with those she respects.  She needs an experienced horseman/woman to gain that respect...her size demands it.  She is completely sound and ready for years of riding!

Contact Shannon at ssmith@whisperranch.org or 678-231-0867, if you are interested in Cheyenne.
