Rescues in Need of Sponsors:

Georgia's current drought & depressed economy has caused astronomical hay prices alongside a decreased ability for people to financially provide for their horses.  We have horses, some in desperate need, waiting for space & sponsorship.

Mia was put through some severe, bone shifting training while her young body was still developing and, now, the bones in one front hoof are irreparably malformed.  Mia was BRED in this condition, as many lame mares are, forcing her to carry an extra 150 lbs of baby on her already painful legs.  She will always have pain issues, but remains the sweetest mare we've ever met.  She needs a loving home somewhere flat!  She's a fantastic "pet" and a great companion.

Mia's original owner died of cancer and forgot to make arrangements for her animals before she succumbed to that horrible disease.

Mia serves as several reminders to all of us!

1.  DO NOT ride horses until they are finished growing!

2.  DO NOT breed lame mares....it is cruel!

3.  DO NOT forget your animals' futures in your wills.

Mia desperately needs a sponsor!  If you can sponsor her at $100/mo, email Shannon at ssmith@whisperranch.org

Mia's baby, Leila, 12 hours old!

Mia's baby is here!  She is a beautiful, bay & white paint filly!  She has one blue eye with a section of brown & one brown eye with a section of blue!  She was born on May 24th at 1am.  She needs a sponsor!

If you can sponsor her at $100/mo, email Shannon at ssmith@whisperranch.org

Fozzy, 14yo Appaloosa Gelding

Fozzy is a 14yo Appaloosa Gelding with Ringbone.  He was surrendered due to current drought conditions.  His owner could no longer care for him.  Holistic care, especially barefoot hoof care, are doing him a world of good.  He has improved from initial, constant lameness to fairly consistent soundness.  We have gotten funds donated for a full course of a fantastic drug called Adequan that we expect to work wonders on rebuilding the interior cushioning in his joints.  His sponsorship need includes $50/mo. of Adequan that will be crucial to his ongoing soundness and comfort.

Fozzy's sponsorship is $150/mo.

Email ssmith@whisperranch.org if you can help out by sponsoring Fozzy.

Pepper

16 year old Quarter Horse Mare

Pepper is a Founder case.  It caused rotation in the coffin bones of her two front feet and she was in serious pain before she came to us.  Through Therapeutic Barefoot Hoof Care and Nutritional Support, she is completely sound again and a happy, healthy girl currently awaiting adoption!

Pepper's sponsorship is $100/mo.  Contact Shannon at ssmith@whisperranch.org or 678-231-0867, if you are interested in sponsoring Pepper.

The Miniature Program needs sponsors!

$100/mo goes a long way in this program, taking care of several of these little guys and helping to pay for their travel expenses.  The more sponsors we have, the more work we can do in the community.  If you'd like to donate monthly to this program, contact Shannon at ssmith@whisperranch.org.

It costs approximately $150 to take the minis to a facility one time.  You can sponsor a single visit or multiple visits by emailing ssmith@whisperranch.org

Thank you to Debbie Hamilton who faithfully contributes to this program monthly!.

Rescues with Sponsors:

Ben, before

Ben, 2 yo Mustang Pony

Ben, now

Ben was impounded by Hall County Animal Control.  He was starved and has multiple scars.  Ben's back right fetlock suffered a severe break at some point and he has developed a lot of mineralization around that joint to compensate.  He is, shockingly, traveling fine on that leg.  We are unsure of whether Ben will be able to be ridden with his leg like this, but we are hopeful.  The terrain at Whisper Ranch is very mountainous and he has not had a day where he isn't 100% sound.  Ben is still very nervous, but we're working on it.  He *wants* to trust; it is just going to take time and love.  He has made friends with a 9 year old boy that does daily work here at the Ranch and also several volunteers and the staff.

Thank you to Michelle Jenkins of Winmark Homes for sponsoring Ben!

Bishop on a therapy visit with an Alzheimer patient.

Bishop, 2yo Pony

Bishop was the victim of very severe abuse that resulted in the loss of an ear and part of his upper lip.  Due to the graphic nature of his suffering, his story is on a separate page.  He is doing well now, though, and you can also read about his happy ending!

NEWSFLASH!!!
